Iran has launched the 3rd Ammonia and Urea unit of Shiraz Petrochemical Complex

Iran has launched the third ammonia and urea unit of Marvdasht Martyrs Petrochemical Plant which brings the country’s total output of the commodities to 4.5mt/y for ammonia and 5.5mt/y for urea.

Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marziyeh Shahdaei, addressing a ceremony to launch the project in the southern city of Shiraz, said the unit can process 680,000 tons of ammonia and 75,000 tons of granular urea annually.

First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri on Tuesday inaugurated the ammonia and urea units of Shohadaye Marvdasht unit of Shiraz Petrochemical Facility.

Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zanganeh and other local officials were present in the ceremony.
The project had cost 550 million euros plus 4,000 billion rials.

Managing Director of Shiraz Petrochemical Facility Kianoush Kazemi said the Ammonia and Urea Unit had created jobs for 500 people directly and for 4,000 to 5,000 people indirectly.

The Shohadaye Marvdasht Amonia and Urea Unit was designed and installed on licenses of Swiss Casale Company and Japan’s Toyo Engineering Corporation and Iranian technicians were in charge of the following phases of the project, including detailed and purchasing engineering, tentative operation and operation of the facilities.

PIDMCO has awarded Hirbodan engineering, procurement and construction contract for a Utilty, off-site and power & steam Generation plant in Shraz Third Ammonia & Urea Complex.
